How much should it cost me to have my steering cables in my boat replaced. Its a merc inboard/outboard 1989 larson had stiff steering and they told me 400 to replace the steering cables which included labor says it takes a couple hours to do. Please let me know if this is what it normally runs for this any help would be great.

Howdy,

They're giving you an estimate, Their labor is probably about $100/hr. and a cable would probably cost around $100-150 depending on the length.

You can buy your own cable HERE ..........This price may be less than their wholesale! You'll have to get the right length though. They're sold in 1ft increments. You MUST remove the old one to measure it.

It's a real pain to R&R one.....but it's not all that hard.
