Unhappy 1984 90 hp Yamaha power head removal help.

I am trying to remove the power head from my 90 hp HTLN Yamaha, the manual shows 11 bolts that secure the power head. I have removed all of those bolts, removed the lower unit it has separated about 1/16 of an inch at the back, but the front will not budge. The front has the steering arm running thru the power head and I’m not sure if that is what is holding it or not, the manual says nothing about it.

Could anyone give me any insight as to what might be holding it together?

Thanks Jeff.

Hi
I just pulled mine on a 1984 Yamaha 90. Did you get the 2 short ones at the very front of the engine, they are located just to either side of the steering arm.

Tim

Ok here is an update for anyone that might need it. I have shaken, beat and pried on the powerhead to remove it but the thing just wouldn’t budge. I double and triple checked and then some more to make sure I had removed all the bolts, went over the manual a hundred times still wasn’t getting anywhere. The spacer just bellow the powerhead and what the bottom cowling bolts to was trying to separate but the powerhead wouldn’t budge.

Ok so today I decide to try again, I used a knife to cut the gasket between the powerhead and spacer. Well with a little prying after that it came right off.

Jeff.
