My 1996 8 h.p. Mariner keeps dying at idle. Starts well, runs well otherwise. When it begins to die, if I pull out and push back in the primer knob once, it will recoever and ilde for another 20 to 30 seconds before beginning to die again.
Sounds like idle tube or idle passage clogged in carburetor. Maybe time to rebuild your carb, also, check your fuel tank and make sure it is vented properly too. I'll bet idle passages.
