Putting Tilt/Trim on my old fiberglass Lund. Running a 1975 70 horse Johnson.
Can anyone with first hand knowledge of the Pow'rTran tilt/trim units share some advice? They use a ball-screw drive instead of hydraulic.
I like the idea that the PowerTran either works or it doesn't, no slow leaks, no hoses or seals to deal with. No hydraulic oil. Ease of maintenance and repair. Ability to lock the unit down and run at zero trim if the unit fails.
I'm concerned about not knowing the reliability and performance of the ball-screw design. I don't know if 63 degrees of tilt on the PowerTran is enough or if the CMC 90 degrees is a must have. Its $500 either way which is a big investment for me.
Anyone who can offer some guidance, I'd sure appreciate it! Thank you.
