My 200 HP Mercury black max outboard stalls over 1200 rpms in gear. At neutral, it revs to 5500 rpms no problem, water pump fine; water pressure 20PSI, but, as soon as I put in gear, and go forward over 1200 rpms, the motor boggs down and stalls.

I recently wired in the old ignition and new gauges. The tach goes on when i turn the iginition key slightly back, and the voltage gauge goes off. when I turn back to the right slightly (while operating), the tach goes off and the voltage gauge goes on. Can these be related to the engine bogging down?

I did the wiring per the manual schematic; used the ignition purple wire.

Why in idle does the engine run so well, but, in forward gear it boggs down. could I have a problem in my shifter control wiring?
Help is greatly appreciated. I spent all winter restoring the 19'Mako on this engine. The local merc dealer said the engine was very good, and he gave me some pointers on removing the oil system and mixing the gas, etc., but, it's the holiday and I can't seem to figure this out.

Thanks,
Joe
