I need to replace a water pump on this 97 Mariner 30 HP outboard. Can anyone give me specific directions on how to remove the lower unit and replace the water pump (impeller)

I had the same question on a 1990. Unbolt the four bolts that hold the foot on. As the foot drops, you will see a shaft through the gap that has two nuts on it. This is your shifter. You will to remove the bottom nut. This will allow the foot to be removed.
From there, go to youtube and search impeller replacement. Several good videos com up that shows how to replace it.
