I have an opportunity to buy a used boat, motor, and trailer at a good price. It is powered by a 1994 Evinrude 225hp. The price is only a good one if the engine is dependable. I haven't heard many good things about Evinrude or Johnson and wish it was a Yamaha. But it is what it is.

Any opinions are welcome and I look forward to reading them.

most of the evins are good motors stay away from fitch ,ram injection.
always water test boat run it let it idle check compression,and lowerunit for water or metal stay away from saltwater motors if heavyly corroded

what is the model # of the engine, if it begins with "F", keep moving down the road.
