i have a 1954 5.5hp cd 11 and it smokes like crazy. i already changed the oil ration to 24:1 and im using johnson outboard oil. i put seafoam in the gas and it still smokes. the only thing i can think of now is that i have a lot of carbon build up on the piston ring. how can i get that carbon off there?

Look in Secret File post at top of this forum. Follow steps to Decarb motor.
Expect a ton of smoke during the process.

Do all that and your motor is going to smoke. It's supposed to. It tells you you have plenty of oil in the gas - which is a good thing. Some synthetic oils will smoke less. But, if you go synthetic, DO NOT cut back on the ratio. Your motor is a plain bearing motor and the oil acts as a cushioning and sealing agent, in addition to being a lubricant... It needs the extra volume as much as the lubrication...
