I have a 1986 Johnson gt150 and just had a mechanic work on it replacing the lower unit seals. When hooked up to watermuffs and running, water comes out between the crack between the lower and upper unit. He assures me this is normal for a Johnson motor. True or False? I'm having a hard time selling it when I don't know the answer. PLEASE HELP! thanks

True. See the waterflow diagram in your service manual.

You can somewhat restrict the flow between the mid and lower by sealing and by making sure that the inner exhaust seals are in place, but some water will flow, especially when running on a hose with too much pressure.
