Hi,
I have a 1966 Evinrude 33 electric start. It started and ran fine last fall when I bought it after I had the local high school auto shop students clean it up and adjust the breaker points. Problem is this spring. I turn the key to the start position. The solenoid clicks and the starter motor turns once and then makes a grinding sound (sounds more electrical than mechanical, I don't think it is trying to turn and getting caught.) When I turn the key back to the on position and then to the start position again nothing happens. The solenoid does not even click. I have to turn the key all the way off, then to start to get any response from the starter. My question is where does the problem lie? Is it the key switch or solenoid or something with the starter motor?
BTW, I have the parts manual and service manual for this motor if anyone has any questions about them.
