Drain Plug Question

I recently purchased my first boat and have a newbie question. The drain plug is the screw in type, both the plug and the receptacle/threads appear to be made of plastic or a similar material.

The plug itself is a 1/2" plug, but the head of the plug looks to be pretty chewed up from a pliers or other device. The only thing I can find to replace it with is a brass plug. Will this work? I am somewhat nervous about fitting a brass plug to plastic threads, not sure if this will seal.

Re: Drain Plug Question

It will be fine, as long as the threads match, I believe the brass plug is a 3/8" pipe thread plug, your boat should be the same thread.

Agreed. It should seal up fine. Just becareful starting it. I imagine it would be easier to cross thred than the plastic one!
