Sanger v215 linkage/acceleration problem

Yesterday, the throttle suddenly stopped working on my 08 Sanger v215. It felt like the linkage broke, but a quick check of the engine compartment showed that the throttle and transmission were still moving. I removed and readjusted the throttle handle. After the adjustment, we were able to limp back to the docks, but the throttle went way too far forward before we got any acceleration and then had to be moved even further to reach a reasonable cruising speed.

1) Engine is limited to 3000 RPM.
2) Throttle moves much further forward than it did an hour before. I didn't even think it could move that far forward (I adjusted the throttle handle before I noticed this).
3) The change was sudden. It was working properly while pulling a wake boarder, but then the boat suddenly decelerated.

Any hints would be very appreciated since the only Sanger dealer in Phoenix closed it's doors about a month ago.

Re: Sanger v215 linkage/acceleration problem

The manufacturer of your boat is irrelevant, always is when it comes to repair unless you're talking about some warranty issue.

You need to find a shop that services the engine and drive. They'll be able to fix it. It sounds minor.

Call all the marinas - ask them "do you service mercruiser" or whomever made your engine/drive setup. If they do, you're in business.
