Help! No steering

We put our 1981 Sea Ray 26 ft. cabin cruiser in the water this morning. Went "round in circles" ,, nice tune but we have no steering control. The mercrusier lower unit has no response whatsoever to the steering wheel. All the steering mechanisms in the boat seem operational. There is a total disconncect to the lower unit.

Any advice on what we are looking at would be genuinely appreciated. Thanks.

Check to see if the cable end or outdrive steering arm moves when you turn the wheel.It`s all mechanical ,so something has to be moving or not.
steering wheel turns, cable dosent means a broken cable or helm unit.cable end moves and drive dosent could be a loose /broken steering arm

hi there that happen to me too and is the steering cable, be sure you have the right lenght when you order.
