A fishing buddy of mine has a year 2000 johnson 30hp that wouldn't run correctly, so we did a compression check and found that there was only 50lbs. of pressure in one of the cylinders. We removed the head and one of the cylinder walls is just very lightly scored. Our plan is to tear down the motor and have it bored or honed out. I have rebuilt many snowmobiles but there looks to be quite a bit more invovled in getting the cylinders removed on this engine:confused. He will be buying a service manual but is there anything else we need to know about this tear down? And is it as easy as he thinks?
