We've got a Flagship 327. Transmission wasn't engaging right, and upon disassembly, we've determined it needs a clutch pack (friction disks were toast).
But, there are no numbers or names (other than flagship) stamped on the transmission. We're struggling to figure out what transmission we have, so we can attempt to order new parts.

I'm not experienced with the old inboard transmissions- It might be a fairly common transmission, or it might not be. Either way, I need some help.

Thanks
Chris Godfrey

I Think I May Be Able To Help You.
I Had A 1959 Flagship 283 Inboard With This Transmission.
Its A Paragon Hydraulic Transmission.
I Am Not Sure Of The Model Number Though.
Look Up Paragon Transmissions On Line.
I Am Pretty Sure Parts Are Still Available For This
Model.

Good Luck Jennyo

Thanks Jennyo. That definitely helps my search when I try to compare it to photos of other transmissions, but I'm still struggling to narrow it down so I can order parts.

Where could I be missing some kind of identification or model number stamping on this thing?

I had a 65' Chris Craft Cavalier woody which had the 327 FS and a paragon trans.I went through it in the late 80's and it seemed like parts were getting hard to find then.If you know anyone at a transmission shop show them clutches to him. They may match up with something else.I know my Merc Trans I have now uses some Ford parts.

Possibly a Paragon PL.

You can get parts to rebuild it most likely.

One marine transmission expert believes it may be a very old Capitol 1E transmission.

Anyone care to weigh in on this?
