clicking noise

Hello, I have just tried to install a new o ring on the bearing carrier of my 1985 mariner 90 hp. Everything went pretty smooth drilled out old lock ring and removed prop shaft while in neutral as stated in Seloc manual. The trouble is upon reininstalling i now have a clicking noise on the foward gear while in neutral,when I turn the prop by hand and when i go to reverse the prop free wheels any ideas what I have out of sync ??

Hey Cell ,Thanks by shift cam being out of alignment ?how do I find where it should be upon initial installation
