Ok, I have a 79 9.9 that im going to work on today, and i have removed the head, and exhaust port to inspect rings and cylinders, etc. because there was hardly any compression.. well Im a dummy and didn't actually test the compression with a guage. So before i buy gaskets and what not would it be ok to just use some rtv or something else as a temporary seal just to check the compression with the guage? The original gaskets are still on there but there is some damage.
