I'm looking at a 1986 Johnson 6 HP motor model J6RLCDE that I'm thinking about buying. Can anyone tell me any good or bad points about these motors, are they a good motor? The one that I am looking at appears to be in very good shape, has good compression and seems solid all the way around. I will be using it as a kicker motor that won't be used other than running it a bit whenever I go out to make sure the gas never gets stale. I'm only buying it in case my 110 VRO motor ever quits on me when I'm in the middle of nowhere! I have had the 110 for about 15 years now and it has been excellent. It, along with the 16 foot crestliner aluminum boat I have it on is all a 1987 model. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks DK.
