Does anyone know where a replacement for the part below can be found? I've looked at the ones available here on iboats and other places as well, but haven't had any luck finding one that has the same type of mounting system.

Am I just looking in the wrong place?:confused: Thanks in advance.

Awww Bob
I see you've been playing with that pesky bulb socket that's inside your bow light...:(
First I'd try an auto parts store. A tailer shop might be able to help. Also Try any web site that specializes in hot rod wiring. Here is a site that might be able to help you...

If all else fails you can silver solder a tab onto a new socket and through bolt it.
Do you need it right away? I often go to a boat salavage yard in upper New Hampshire. I can look for you when I go...

PS. that socket takes a #90 bulb

Re: Bow Light Hardware

Thanks Ed,

I don't need it immediately, but thanks for the offer.:) The one I have for this fixture is in pretty rough shape. I kept searching around and found this:

I ordered one and I'll bend up some thin sheet metal up to make a new stay. I'll probably use CA to attach it, I'm a little worried about overheating any internal connections with a soldering gun.

I'll let you know how it turns out. Wish me luck!

Re: Bow Light Hardware

Hey Bob
I did a little investigating....... The bow light sockets for our MFGs were made by a company called Leecraft. Here is a link to some of their products

http://lightingcomponents.com/products_serv/leecraft/index.shtml

Hope this helps :)

Well Damn! That link took me to the exact part I need, but it's too late. I gave up looking for the part and went out and got the miscellaneous parts needed to make my own.

If anyone wants to avoid buying an installation ready part and invest way too much time and money making your own (GRRR!), this is how I did it.

Here are the parts: 22 gauge steel, tin snips, bayonet double contact socket, bulb (the one I got is WAY too big), and cyanoacrylate adhesive (super glue).

I flattened out the sheet metal part of the old attachment assembly and traced it on the new sheet metal. I then cut it out, drilled a hole for the wires, and bent it up to match the original.

I glued it to the assembly because I didn't want to melt any interior parts with the soldering iron. Here's the final product (less bulb) compared to the original.

I'll paint the steel part to stave off corrosion as long as possible. Hindsight being as accurate as we all know it is I should have waited and saved some money and time. I mean GEEZ, I still need to find the right bulb...more $$$...UGH! But hey, I did get to buy some new tin snips!:D
