just started this project a couple weeks ago and will post pics soon.

So far all the stringers and bulkheads are rotted and have removed alot of the foam. The pics will tell alot, LOL.

Am going to replace stringers and bulkheads along with the floor structure.

At this time i do not plan to put the foam back.

The boat will be awl griped and non skid applied to the floors. the cabin will be done in doug fir most likely with several coats of varnish.

The motor is a 260 hp mercruiser

Not replacing the foam is your choice however, it is an insurance liability if anything should happen.

The key is not "foam" but floatation ;)

Re: 1978 Century 4000 resto

Here are some more from this weekend so far, the tape measure was for making reference points for putting the stringers and bulkheads in the correct places. Before i start that process i will level the boat before i cut the patterns for the stringers and bulkheads.

I hope to have the main bulkead in place on memeorial day weekend and the forward cabin stringers and bulkheads as well. Will template. cut, hot coat, then set in place, fill and radius with hull and deck then tape in place.

Re: 1978 Century 4000 resto

OKay a quick update, Have removed the forward bulkheads and stringers in the cabin and have begun grinding prep for starting to put the cabin back together.

This weekend is putting up the shelter to continue working on it so i dont have to cover it every time i want to work on it. so far gor 250.00 inot the shelter and will post pics soon. It is basically a curved roof built out of starpping and 2x4 walls covered in shrink wrap.

Re: 1978 Century 4000 resto

Here are w few more pics of where i am at right now, Need to decide wether or not to put the main bulkhead back where it was or make it plumb ( its out and inch and 1/2) Not sure why it was done that way though and if there was a reason for it. I'm guessing that that matched the transom angle and it would add a little extra leg room on the deck if i out the seats back in the same position, If i plumb it up i will have to remake the cabin coushions as they will be the same 1 1/2 inches to short.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like the boat is coming along nicely!
I like the shed idea, looks like you have good headroom in there, price does'nt sound too bad either!

Re: 1978 Century 4000 resto

have cut the main bulkhead and got it in place ready for hull and dech putty before i galss it in. They must have had a bad day when they built this boat because the main bulkhead wasnt put in in the right place originally! Took quite awhile without a rotating laser to get it right. at least the main will be the same distance from the transom now!
