I bought this motor a few days ago, and I did a test runb ebfore I bought it.

The water pump was wroking it had good compression and good spark.

It ran nice in the water (only ran for about 5 mins)

I took it out today and made a long run after about 15 mins of running non stop at 3/4 speed. It stopped and there was smoke (steam like from being hot)

I let it cool off and tried to start it and now it will not fir up.. Even used starting fluid right in the carbs and it would not fire up...

I think he did not have the gas mixed right and there was not enough oil in the gas...

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Joe

compression on both cyl is just over 100 each....

Took of the back end and pistons look clean....

Where to go from here?

ok....

It was still pumping strong at the time the motor died...

And when I looked at the gas (after this happened) it looked like there was not much oil in it....

I thought he would have mixed it correct becuase it was the same tank he was using on the boat before I bought the motor...

NOw here is a wierd part...

I was just outside and I only had one plug in and the other one was completely out and it turned over....

So I tried it with the other plug in and the first one out.... It turned over again..

But with both plugs in , it will not turn over....

any thoughts?

Oh and I corrected the gas mixture... I put new gas mixed at 50:1 and pumped it into the carbs as well...

Ok,

So I took off the fly wheel (looks good not bent)

took off the back end where the spark plugs go in, and everything looks good

Carbs are clean and looks good

pistons are not chewed up (and I even lubed them becuase they needed it with trany fluid)...

The shaft going from the fly wheel turns well and is not froze...

And I am still getting ok compression...

And I am getting spark...

Fule - ok

Compression - ok

spark - ok

but still not running....
