buzzing sound?

i have a 1981 evinrude sport,and while i was driving it i had it way opened and a buzzer was going off,i turned it off and turned it back on and it never did it again,it's never done this before so is this something to worry bout?thanks

you may have just picked up some trash, plastic, baggie, etc, that blocked the water pickup. fell off when you stopped.

I think TD is suggesting it was you overheating alarm, which I agree with.

To test your alarm, and see if this is the sound you heard, turn your key to the on position, (with out starting the motor) and stick a piece of metal into the slot above the key hole. This should sound a really loud alarm. If you only hear it once, I would not be too concerned, unless you are not spitting out enough water.

thanks for the replies,the motor still had a tell-tale with the same pressure it seemed to me and i felt the water while it was running and it wasn't to cold but it wasn't real hot either,is that good?

warm water just means it is taking heat away from the engine, which is good.
