Can somebody tell me what im doing wrong?I have a 1979 85 hp johnson that i'm swapping out for a 1996 88 hp evinrude spl.The problem that i'm having is with the power trim connection. There's a harness adapter that goes from old to new,and there dosen't seem to be a connection(plug) for the trim.I've tried to trace the connection from the evinrude power trim wires(blue, green, and red)and it goes to the black box on the back.So my real question is,if i have to splice the wires where do i do this without frying my electrical system. And yes the power trim is definitely working.I tested it myself before i removed it from my fathers boat.

Paul, You are replacing the entire engine, correct? If so the conections should be blue/white on the control to blue/white on the motor's PTT relay box and green/white to green/white. You might need to make up your own harness.
