Hello all,
I have a 1989 2 stroke 125 hp force outboard motor that came on 19 ft bayliner that i bought for $500 from a co-worker. Here is my problem, becides that i bought a 500 $ boat, The power head is shot so i ordered one. It was removed prior to my buying the boat. I believe i have all the other parts, but i have some questions.

1) The section between the powerhead and lower unit has the cover taken off i believe its called the shaft cover or something, does that have a gasket too it or is it just a bolt on. if it does whats that section called and wheres the best place in ct to get one.

2) When I turn the prop by hand in the rev.direction there is a ticking noise I hear. Is that normal? If not what do you think it might be?

3) Are there any tips i should know about this motor or tips in general?

4) As for a battery, what type and or turn over power should be used if it matters? Will any decent marine battery work?

5) I also heard that ther is a led additive i should be mixing with the fuel. Should i use it or does it not madder. if so why?

6) When changin the gear oil in the lower end, do i need the pump to fill it reversed or can it be done without it.

7) This boat has not ran in 2 years should i change the cooling impeller or only if it isnt spitting whater when it starts.( if it ever does)

Thanks for all your help. by the way i cant spell for my life sorry for the errors

Welcome,
for starters you should get a decent repair manual. They have lots of info.
#2 possibly the shift mechanism is out of adjustment.
#4 Depends on what and how many electronics you will be using.
A manual can tell you how to check the state of your charging system.
#5 I don't use additive, but mine is a 92. Make sure you use TC III oil mixed 50:1 I believe.
#6 according to the manual, you pull the vent and fill plug in the L/U and squeeze
the correct amount of oil up from the bottom. This keeps air pockets from forming
and putting in the wrong amount.
#7 if the condition of the impeller is unknown, replacement is recommended.
I am sure others will fill in. Plenty of expert help here. Very knowledgeable site.
Get the manual and read it front to back.
Good luck.
