Ran great 1st 2 times out this year but yesterday noticed wide surges between full and say about 50% of the power setting then it just stopped making normal power and seems to have about 1/2 power at best. Had recently run through some shallow water but not run aground (I'm on Ocracoke NC). Water pump stream looks OK, no high temp indication. I have limited tools with me. Any thoughts on troubleshooting. Has a spin on Racor fuel filter and 2 year old plugs.
Sounds like the symptoms of a clogged anti siphon valve, (starving for fuel)
most anti siphon valves are in the fuel barbed fitting of the fuel line coming out of the tank, While you are there you may also want to check screen on the bottom of the fuel line pick up tube.
