Hi again! I finally got my merc500 out on the water today, but the drive shaft keeps sliping out of gear. Is there an adjustment for this? If so, how does one go about it?

I hope this is the last thing i have to do before I can finally go fishing!!

Re: adjusting the drive linkage...

You need to adjust the cable at the motor. Set the control to neutral. Remove the wrap cowling. Remove the throttle cable (top one) from the front barrel nut clamp. Now remove the shift cable (bottom) barrel nut from the clamp. Now move the shift slide until it "clicks" into neutral. Now adjust the barrel nut to fit back into the clamp. Reinstall the throttle cable barrel nut as well.

if that doesn't fix it, you likely have gearcase issues.
