I have a 1981 Johnson Seahorse, 35 hp with a blown powerhead. My son told me that he started the engine without oil and caused the problem. I would like to buy another powerhead on ebay and wonder if it would work. It's from a Johnson 35, but a different model and I'm not sure of the year. What should I ask the seller (he's saying that this would work in many engines). Apparently this engine was taken apart and various parts are being sold. I'm concerned about compression, although I know nothing about boat engines. Thanks for any input.
