XR4 Tachometer problem

Does anyone have the schematics for the tachometer circuit on this 1991 XR4 150hp outboard? Or can you tell me where the tach signal is taken from on the motor? The tach has been replaced and still does not work.... the technician told me the power pack was bad but there is two and I do not think the signal comes from the pack. Any help would be appreciated!!!!

The tach runs off a signal from the stator. See if there is a grey wire on the voltage regulator. If so, that is the tach signal. Some motors have dual voltage regulators. One of them can fail, and the tach won't work. In that case switching the grey to the other VR will restore tach function.
