Does anyone knows the length and diameter of the rope so maybe I could make one?
Or is there a place to buy emergency starting rope for that motor?

Also where can I buy a replacement rubber seal for the engine cover?

I started a 105 hp Chrysler on about 5' of 1/4" nylon rope, I think your 85 hp omc should start on this. The rubber seal will have to come from an Evinrude dealer. You could probably find a used motor cover with a good seal at a marine salvage yard for less $, than just the seal from a dealer.

Bombardier dealers sell starter rope in bulk. 5/32"-772577, 7/32"-772578, 1/8"-772579. It's thinner and stronger than most cord and will fit in that small groove in the flywheel.

Have you looked inside the hood of your motor? Many of them have a little red box in there with an emergency rope inside.

You want the 7/32 size. True, the dealer stuff is better than some of the hardware store stuff, but the store should have the good stuff too. After all, you are only using it in an emergency. Just a piece of rope around 3 feet or so, and a piece of dowel or broom handle with a hole drilled in it. If you want to take the easy way out, just go to a lawn mower shop. They have them already made up. I'll bet Home Depot does too.
