Good Day,

I have a 1978 Glastron with an OMC 240 in it. This spring when I attempted to start it, I noticed two problems.

First, I noticed that when I attach the hose to feed water to the motor, water is coming out of the bottom of the motor. My neighbor felt that the freeze plugs may have popped out. Any thoughts?

Second, when I try to crank it, I can hear it firing. It will fire as long as the starter is turning the motor. As soon as I let off the ignition, it dies.

Any thoughts would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

First, it sounds like it was improperly winterized if it pushed the core plugs out. That could lead to a internal crack and you`ll need a new block.
Running in the start position and not in the run position is a sign that you dont have power to the coil.Check for power with the key in the run position.
