Not sure about your motor but on my 1981 Johnson 70 hp the discharge from the motor comes out a small grommetted hole up near the top where the cowling attaches, on the port side of the powerhead. I think most outboards do this so you can see if your motor has water running through it as you cruise. The underside of my motor looks almost exactly like yours. Best bet is to buy a manual that will explain everything in detail. Mine cost $30.00 & saved me $300.00 first time I used it.
