I have a 2006 johnson 15hp 4 stroke. I had alot of trouble keeping the pee hole from freezing up last fall, so I took the little needle and spring out of it so it makes a bigger stream that doesn't freeze up so easily. Is this bad to do? I lost it (of course) over the winter so I wonder it I need to get a new one or if it is ok not to use it. I have had no trouble with it. If I do need it, where is a good place to get it shipped to me in Alaska quickly. Thanks!!!

Make sure to check often for overheat at idle and if it doesn't I would guess your fine to go without it. Rick.

Why not just shooting some compressed air up the tell-tale to dry it out??

I can't seem to find a needle, and spring in the overboard indicator for the model year of your motor. What is the model no. of your motor, and where is this needle, and spring located?
