I have a 1971 50hp hydro- shift outboard that won't start. i bought it off ebay and the owner started the motor and it ran great when i picked it up. i took it home and it sat for 6 months, I decided to mount it on my boat. So I tried to start the motor, and the starter will not engage at all. I checked the starter and it spins moves up & down freely. It seems like its not getting any power at all. I checked a glass fuse comming off a red wire near the solenoid but its actually is coming off the yellow plug for the controls and its fried. The fuse is about 1 1/2 cm long, and it's a 20A 32V 301 (is the writing on the fuse). Could this be the problem? And if it is where could I get this fuse? Could I go with a different 20amp fuse? Would they carry this in the hardware store? Can somebody help please!!!
