motor tries to start when trim is lifting

when i lift my motor i can hear my motor turning over???? what would be the best way to trace the problem? i also have some problems starting, i will turn the key and all i will hear is a beep. its like its not getting any power . after a few times it will start.( 1994 johnson vro 225hp )

if starter is engaging, when the tilt is activated, you definately have a short. does it do it with both control switch and the engine mounted tilt switch?

Have you owned this rig for some time, and did it function properly in the past, OR, Is this rig new to you, and has this problem been present since day one?

Turning key, hear beep, then later okay...... loose cable connections OR tight but dirty cable connections. Remove, clean thoroughly all cable ends and their related terminals, then tighten securely.

Engine cranks over when PTT "up" button is depressed...... Besides applying voltage to the "up" relay setup of the PTT controls, you are also applying voltage to the starter solenoid. This is a wiring problem not associated with the normal engine wiring.... I would assume that someone has connected a wire improperly.
