94 135 black max wont charge the battery

this may be a stupid question but ill ask it anyhow. i have a 94 mercury blackmax that wont charge my battery. ive replaced the stater. someone told me to replace the voltage regulator. but id just like to get a second opinioin before pissing more money away. help please...

The most common cause of no charge is blown diodes in the rectifier. In you case the rectifier is built into the regulator. Testing procedures are in your manual. You will just need an ohm meter.

My '93 135HPV6 has dual 20A voltage regulators. They both burned up within the same month. Examine yours for blackening, burning melting etc.

CDI makes good replacements
