87 50hp evinrude overheat buzzer wont shut off

I replaced my 1984 28 hp spl evinrude with a 1987 50 hp vro evinrude im using the 28 hp controls and wiring harness. As soon as i turn the key the overheat buzzer turns on and wont go off ,was wondering what the problem could be any help would be great thanks

sounds like the negative wire that goes from horn to engine is grounding out somewhere.follow the wire to the sensor unhook it see if buzzer keeps going.if stops its the sensor.
