I have a 1962 Evinrude Lark 4 40hp outboard
Manual Shift, (35531M)
2 cylinder

I was having issues trying to figure out how to properly connect the ignition switch, the motor started fine a few times once i finally figured out how the wires ran per some other iboat forums and wiring diagrams, The motor now no longer starts so when checking the iissues i found that I no longer recieve and spark at all to the Plug Wires at all now.

1. What causes loss of all spark through the plug wires?
2. Is there a way to test power to the coil, w/o removing flywheel?
3. worst case is there a diagram anywhere on the net i can find to replace the coils and points?

Quick question

If I placed the magneto wires in the wrong place on the ignition and caused them to get hot very hot what would i have damaged in the firing system on the motor.

My assumption is I may have burned coil wire into
however im extremely new to boat motor repairs

if you sent 12 volts directly to the coils, they will probably look like these.
