Replaced VRO pump 8 months ago on 2001 40hp Johnson ran great until the last two days.
Starts fine, runs great. but after fishing for a while took several cranks to start almost called sea tow. Changed plugs went out yesterday just to run it, shut engine off for a few minutes. same thing.
When the VRO pump was replaced the tech also adjusted carb and idle, compression fine.
new primer bulb and hose (omc). I am new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

did you raise your fast idle lever? did you try pumping the primer bulb? did you push the key in to enrich the fuel mixture? did you flood the motor?

Re: 40 HP hard starting when warm

Primer bulb fine, used fast idle lever. Tried pushing in key. Tried removing gas line from engine and runing (seemed to help). Seems to act like the engine is all of sudden flodding after sitting and starting. I thought I might decarbonize with Seafoam. Do you think it might help? What do you think would cause this when the engine is running fine otherwise?
Thanks
