Default mercury exhaust

Is it possible to drill out the exhaust ports in the back of a 70hp merc to make it louder?

Default Re: mercury exhaust

If you drill holes thru the midsection and thru the exhaust megaphone, the motor will get louder, but it may impact performance. The holes in the midsection are exhaust relief, and drilling them would not have any effect.

I guess I would ask why you would want to do this?
