I am hooking up the wires from the control box to the key. One gray wire goes from the battery side of the solinoid to the key to start the engine but where does the other gray wire go?

Also, there is a heavy red wire from the voltage regulator to the key switch. But where does that go?

The heavy red wire was probably for an ammeter. We harldy use them anymore.

That motor requires a wire from the battery to the ignition switch to supply +12DC, a wire from the ign switch S terminal to the small connection on the starter solenoid to energize it. A ground wire to the ign switch, and a wire to the black killer wire under the flyheel to short the points to stop the motor. If you have an electric choke, you need a wire from a pushbutton for that, as well.
