Transom crack question, keel scarring

Bought a 71 Caravelle 17' fiberglass runabout Friday with trailer and '72 85 HP Johnson OB motor. Questions are: after seeing the pics below, there's a crack inside the transom above bilge compartment, it DOES NOT go thru, not even a sign of any spider webbing on outside of transom whatsoever. Can this crack be left, or would a simple fiberglass patch job suffice? Also see the area to right, guy redid the boat decking and all structural supports and seats in 04, didn't run deck wood all way to back of boat, however he did the structural supports all the way back. Inside transom wood looks to be exposed there, should we just patch over that too after sanding to solid wood? He didn't glass in the new deck floor either but its always been trailered, garaged, covered, and owned by same family. the other 2 pics are of the keel, there are a few chips elsewhere, but this is the worst. Can we just form marine tex over this and sand it smooth after curing? Thanks again for the info.

Re: Transom crack question, keel scarring

Leaving access to the bilge is a good place to install a good bilge pump.

Since you have some marine-tex..... do a sample boring partially into the transom ....only to see if the wood is dry..... then patch the hole with marine tex.

If the transom is solid do a small amout f fiberglass work and go boating..... oh check the impellar on the 85 ob AND DON"T FORGET THE PLUG!!!!!
