Re: electric shift
First thing you always want to do when diagnosing electric shifts is to check the voltages at the gearcase leads. They come up near the backside of the powerhead and have rubber sleeves covering the terminals. Slide the sleeves back but leave the wires connected. Check the voltage on each. Should be near battery voltage. Should show voltage on green wire in forward gear and on blue wire in reverse. If it doesn't, check out the electrical system, especially the shift switch in the control.
Change that oil, using Johnson or Evinrude Premium Blend oil---nothing else. If you continue to get water intrusion, fix the seals.
