Did older Merc350Mags have oil filters?

Hello,

I'm seeing in the Mercruiser service manual 31 that all models have a remote oil filter mounted on the top side of the engine. I have an older carburated 350mag that is not covered in manual 31 and doesn't appear to have any oil filter.

Can someone confirm that they did have 350mag w/o oil filter and what service manual has info on the older non-mpi 350mag engines? Any links to it still around?

Thanks.

Yes, they have an oil filter. Mounted on the port aft part of the block at oil pan level.
31 is the wrong manual for your engine, what year 350 Mag do you have?

Hi Don,

It is a 1989 boat and I *think* that it is the original engine.

350mag with a quadrajet carb on it.

Thanks.

:D That's where it is, way down low, way back in there, under that thing, and between those hoses. ( and put on too tight,:( )

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help.
