Engine starts up runs for a couple mins then shuts off it was working fine last weekend went out about 3 miles and then the primer bulb was sucked dry since then boat wont run correctly i rebuilt carbs and fuel separator seat and needle last week and still not running right i think its a fuel problem. any input thanks again

If the primer bulb is sucked flat, deformed at all, the problem is usually that the fuel line is restricted somewhere before the bulb.

Start with the fuel pickup tube inside the tank, see if it is clogged with crud, has a dirty screen. Next check the fitting on top of the tank. Built in fuel tanks have a check valve in this fitting take may clog and stick partially closed.

i tried running the engine from a seperate tank and it still did the same thing

Did you use a different bulb and fuel line when trying the spare tank?

Give us some symptoms, and heres some commas to use ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I used the same line. same bulb the engine will turn on then sputter out ,and then it turns on turn the throttle up and works for a second then shuts back down, and also seems when i push key in to choke it starts up better and still shuts off. i have checked the spark plugs all that good stuff im so lost now i dont know what it could possibly be. Took of fuel seperator and diapharam no water and both are also clean.

If you push the key in when trying to get it going, that bypasses the carbs.

I would get a new bulb and line , only to eliminate that from the problem.
And new fuel from a diffderent source.

hAVE you baselined it, compression test, spark gap test ?

Whats the history, is it new to you, did it ever run right?

Try a different hose. Sometimes the ballvalves in the primer bulb will stick, causing a fuel stoppage.

compression test yea and spark plug gap test yea i did both and repated them both yesterday. It ran right for a while ive had the boat for about two years now and just got back from vegas it sat for about a year ,and i cleaned out the gas tank fuel lines and all that decarbonized the engine ,and it was running fine then the bulb got suck flat engine died and didnt work again and repeats problems over. The starter piece that goes up to start engine was bad fixed that and stars fine just no gas it dies off. tried hitting choke while running still doesnt work any other suggestions

Bought new bulb ran fuel from another gas tank still not working
