Hello! First post in this forum..
I just bought a new rpm meter to my Johnson 60 HP 1997, because the old one work up to about 1700 rpm's..so I thought the meter itself was the problem..I was wrong...the new meter has the same behaviour as the old one, so I guess it is in the engine somewhere? BUT WARE?

Any good tips where to find this problem and to solve this problem?

Thank in advance!

Re: RPM meter

Most tachometers will need a 6p setting. What brand of tachometer is it? The name and model should be on the rim of the dial face in small letters.

Re: RPM meter

Hey..thank for replying..
The tachometer is a VDO and is set to 6p.
It's behavour is the same as the old one that I thought was broken.
Therefor I guess it is in the transmitter ( dont know the english word for the thing that sends the signal to the meter )..
Please tell me where the connection is on the motor, because I guess the problemo is there
