I can't get the lower unit removed from my Nissan outboard model NS9.9B2. I have removed the four nuts and shift linkage. I have been persuasive with a hammer, sprayed it with every oil I can think of, hung it upside down and used wedges to try to nudge it loose. Could there be another bolt? What else can I do?

Re: lower unit removal

This sometimes happens if the driveshaft is stuck in the crank. The usual method for dropping these is to gently and patiently drive narrow wedges between the exhaust housing and the LU and wait. Then tap the wedges in further. Repeat until it pops free. May take a day or more, if really stuck.
