I was wondering how you'd test drive a boat with a brand new replacement motor. I am possibly going to be looking at a 98 Glasstron 19.5' boat at a marina. The boat recently has had its engine replaced due to the lack of winterization. I was wondering if I decided to set up a test drive how would you test drive it and not damage the motor or what to look for without the break in period. Also should I be asking what kind of warranty comes with the new motor? Thanks for all the help

if it makes any difference its a 4.3L I'd want to say its a mercruiser but don't hold me to it

Just run the engine a different RPMS do NOT run at same rpm all the time

You would only care about the warranty if it can be transferred. If it can't, it doesn't matter.

I'd suggest letting it idle on muffs until it comes up to temp and the thermostat opens. If that works, take it out and have a friend (or the marina/dealership) ready to tow you in just in case. Doing troubleshooting on the water is a pain.

Tough to break it in, in that waterway. Need to find some water where you can use the boat. See other post, just recently submitted on how to break in motor.
