My 1994 Evinrude 4 h.p. motor came off of my transom in about 35 feet of water in mid January 2009. 
I've looked for the motor for at least eight hours using an underwater camera and monitor to no avail. I'm throwing in the towel on the lost motor and looking for a replacement four horse Evinrude twin cylinder.
The throttle of the motor that I had was the usual twist grip style on the handle. I've only seen two motors with that style throttle control on Ebay and locally on Craigslist since mid January. However, I keep seeing nice three horsepower units of the same design on Ebay. The bore and stroke size of the 3 h.p. motors and the gear ratios of the lower units are the same as the 4 h.p. motors of the same year range. Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a three to a four? If so, what parts are necessary to accomplish the conversion?
