Merc 6 hp 4 stroke, Good for trolling?

Heard some talk out there that single cylinder motors are not the best for trolling especially at high altitudes for trout and Kokes. Would like a lighter motor. Have an oppurtunity to buy a used 2004 6 hp 4 stroke motor.

Could anybody help please?
