I have a mid 80's 140 mercruiser with a bad core plug. I know I need to pull the motor to get to this plus and inspect the block to see if it is cracked or not. My question is do I have to pull the drive unit to get this motor out? serial number on the valve cover is 6131166. There is also another tag on the valve cover with a serial number6184335. Any help telling me how to get this motor out would be great.

It's best to pull the drive first so you don't damage that expensive coupler. While you can get it out without pulling the drive, to reinstall the engine you MUST have the drive off.

If you head up to the Adults only sticky at the top of the forum, you can download the manuals for your engine and drive.
